KPA acknowledges the interdependency between the success of its business and the well-being of the community in which it operates. KPA is committed to making a positive social contribution within the community and acknowledge the responsibility to engage with the communities through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.
Having learnt so much about the needs of the surrounding community, KPA has divided its CSR programs into four main categories, which are:
-Education and transfer of technology
-Safety, health and environment care
-Contribution to the local community
-Disaster relief for locations within the country that had been hit by natural disasters.
In the 2007-2008 periods, the CSR programs that are planned to be applied are:
Education
Apprenticeship and on the job training
The programs aim toward accommodating the transfer of knowledge and to give college and high school students the experience of a real working environment. In the end these students are able to gain the standard competency needed by the manufacturing field.
“The World is Mine”
This program is meant to accommodate the transfer of information in the field of Communication Technology, to provide internet access in schools so students will gain computer literacy and unlimited valuable information from the World Wide Web.
Conducting seminars and workshop on linux and Open Source Software for education, cooperation with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and The State Ministry of Research and Technology. This program support the local government campaign for education “Bontang Cerdas 2010”
Economic Society Development
Together with Joint Venture Company of Pupuk Kaltim and the local government, KPA will provide a food stall (pujasera) in Selambai, Lhok Tuan.
As the implementation of the company’s concern to the operators of small scale business, many parts around KPA have got the development assistance such as youth association (karang taruna) at Guntung Area for the production of local material batako.
Safety, Health and Environment Care
(Community Crisis Management)
-Conducting safety contest for both internal participant and surrounding community such as youth organization (Karang Taruna), Senior High School, and other youth organization located at Bontang.
-Conducting safety audit program for community residential to promote safety on electricity, cooking to avoid the fire.
-Disseminate information and initiate community discussion on healthy living behavior.
-Together with surrounding community, conducting a ‘clean sea’ movement around KPA’ Plant.
Religion
Facilitate religious activities during Ramadhan and Christmas through social visits and fund contribution.
Donation
KPA will facilitate the gathering of fund for the surrounding community.
This program will also allocate fund to help any area hit by natural disaster.
