KPA
Continuous
Improvement
Founded in July 28, 1997, based on a business agreement
between PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Kaltim), Tomen
Corporation and Mitsui Co., Ltd., PT Kaltim Pasifik Amoniak
(KPA) has been known as a manufacturer and dealer for
ammonia.
The first
success of production process and shipping of ammonia in
2000 has officially signed the start of KPA. It has been
fully operating since May 1, 2000, after finishing two years
of building its plant.
By holding
the company’s motto “to be tireless always be fair and
humble”, KPA is committed in the continuous improvement of
its quality, quantity and production process. The dedication
in improving every aspect of its work is shown in the
compliance of international standard in quality (ISO, OHSAS,
SOA-404, ISPS), best practices import (RBI, CMMS, RCM, FMEA,
PSM, CDMS, APC, BCP/DRP), problem solving initiative (energy
efficiency, de-bottlenecking), and the application of
technology information resources (enterprise application,
information, infrastructure and people).
Nevertheless,
in the effort to improve, KPA believes that as a code of
conduct, safety and business ethics have to always be put
first. Thus, it is nothing but ethical to give back to the
society that has helped KPA to grow by providing education
for the community as a corporate social responsibility.
KPA ammonia
plant of 46 Hectares is located in Bontang, East Kalimantan.
It has the capacity of 2,000 MT (Metric Ton) per day and
660,000 MT per year. Through the capable and strong
commitment KPA’s capacity could be reached more than 2,000
MT per day as capacity as designed. KPA is supported by 209
employees, which are composed of 122 direct hires and 87
technical supporting staffs for the operating and
maintenance agreement with PT Pupuk Kaltim in 2007.
Today, KPA
has a paid in capital amounting to US$75.75 million and in
2006 has reached an accumulated value of ammonia production
as high as 4 million MT with the quality of 99.9% minimum
WT.
Besides the improvement in production. KPA has also received
several international certificates and recognition for its
work and safety practices, such as environmental management,
facility security, and zero accident awards. Based on Built
Operate Transfer (BOT) scheme, KPA is planned to operate for
18 years after the first production, with a possibility of
four years extension period
