Mitsui & Co., Ltd was established on July 25, 1947 under the name of Daiichi Bussan and in 1949 it was already listed in the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Through foreign trade, Mitsui, which was established with a capitalization of 195,000 yen, had a significant contribution to the Japan’s postwar economic recovery in the 1950’s. In the year 1959, the company then integrated with other trading companies and changed its name to Mitsui & Co., Ltd.

Today, Mitsui & Co.’s business core consists of: sales, manufacture, export/import, international trade and services in these fields: metal products and minerals, machinery, electronics and information, chemicals, energy, consumer products and services – retail, foods, textiles and fashion, general merchandise and various services, financial market, and logistic and transportation. Toyota Tsusho Corporation

On July 1, 1948, the trading division of Toyoda Sangyo Kaisha Ltd. was established as a separate company, named Nissin Tsusho Kaisha Ltd., that now is known as Toyota Tsusho Corp. In 1957, the company then established it first overseas joint ventures, and in 1960 started it first overseas subsidiaries in New York.
